Self- Representation

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lila Degirmenjian, I was born in Syria, and I am currently in the 9th grade. As a student who is passionate about Architecture, I am excited to explore the possibilities of pursuing a career in interior design. My whole life I was surrounded by people who are very creative, and very spirited about design-related interests. I always look up to my elder sister as an inspiration, since she did pursue a career in Architecture and is currently working at her own company.

I hope to join her  after I graduate from university, although I do work with her during summer breaks, and she helps me with my studies.

Our school motivates us to be the best version of ourselves, thanks to its creative educational system. I used to go to another school, but when I heard about Mkhitar Sebastaci Educational Complex, I knew I wanted to continue my education there. I chose to change my school mostly because in this school students have the freedom to develop on their own and choose certain subjects that will shape them into the person that they want to become. The school is famous for its elective subjects. Elective subjects are courses that students can choose to take in addition to their mandatory classes. The subjects I have chosen are French and Judo.

I chosen French because,  I hope to psue a career and study architecture in France, partly because French architecture is characterized by a focus on harmony, balance, and symmetry. I am very interested in French architecture because  their buildings are old and in Gothic style. Many say I am fit to be an interior designer, mostly because of my creativity, attention to detail, good communication skill, and problem-solving skills.

I have a few hobbies, the main ones are: visiting art galleries or museums and reading or writing. I have done a handful of projects and research activities, but my favorite one was when my friend and I went out to a nearby college and asked some professors what they think about a design my friends and I had been working on. Afterward, we applied the recommendations and got much better feedback from the professors we talked to beforehand.

The meeting with the specialists hasn’t played a role in my professional orientation, for I have always been driven toward architecture since I was an infant.

After finishing the 9th grade, I will continue my education at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. The reason for that is, I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from my friends that attend it.
